Introduction: Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is caused by a deficiency in the action of anti-diuretic hormone, and can be life threatening if not treated appropriately. Lithium is a commonly used mood stabiliser in psychiatry and is known to cause NDI in around 12% of patients.
